After ten weeks of interacting with the students, I remain certain in the belief that all students can learn and have a lot of potential to learn. I am fortunate to have been able to teach students who always show interest in the subjects that I teach. Although it is a challenge to keep them engaged all the time, it is always a rewarding experience when the students ask questions and show their hunger for knowledge in the classroom.
I enjoy interacting with students out of the class as well. I think it is important for teachers to maintain some form of contact with students outside the classroom as the students' well-being should be a concern to teachers. Students, especially teenagers, are at an age where they may need help managing their emotions and teachers should be there to help them if they can.
During practicum, I have come across a few students who are facing social and emotional problems within the classroom itself. These issues serve as a reminder that the school environment is not just about the academics; it is also about the students interacting with others, making friends, and on a journey to discover their strengths and weaknesses. They need a guiding hand sometimes, and we, as teachers, can be the ones to help them.

7.1: Knowing self & others: Tuning into self
During practicum, I frequently reflected on my lessons so that I would know how it could be improved. It also helps that my CTs would sit down with me and give me advice on how my lessons could be modified to stretch the students' minds further. As such, I have been able to note down my strengths and weaknesses so that I can work on them in future.
4.1: Cultivating knowledge with subject mastery
As I was teaching both Literature and English, I had to use the content knowledge and pedagogical theories taught in NIE to adapt lessons. This was to ensure that I could cater to the students' needs and learning abilities. For example, for English, I used a KWL chart to get students to understand the concept of a proposal. This allowed them to raise questions on what they wanted to learn about the idea and check on how much they have learnt.
3: Providing quality learning of child in CCA
For CCA I was attached to Air Rifle, where I observed the activities that the students participated in. During my observations, I had the opportunity to experience the duties that have been given to the teachers. It was an enriching experience, as I was able to see my students outside the classroom environment. From my experience, I realised that students could learn even more skills during CCA as they learn different things that enable them to develop themselves to their fullest potential.
